About Invisalign

Properly aligned, straight teeth aren't just beautiful, they're healthier and more comfortable. An improper bite (such as an overbite) and crooked teeth may lead to future dental concerns that can become painful and expensive to fix. This is why Dr. Jeffrey Allred is happy to offer the Invisalign system — removable, clear aligners for his patients in San Marcos, CA. Made custom for your teeth and your unique goals, Invisalign is more attractive and comfortable than metal braces because they may be removed to make eating and cleaning your teeth much easier. If you're interested in getting straighter teeth with Invisalign technology, make an appointment at Allred Dental to learn more from Dr. Allred.

Best Candidates

There are multiple factors that may determine the natural alignment (or misalignment) of your teeth: genetics, thumb-sucking as a child, missing a tooth or teeth, and traumatic accidents to the face. The misalignment of your teeth can cause more oral health concerns, including dental malocclusion (a bad bite), uneven wear on the enamel, difficulty speaking and chewing, plus toothaches and jaw pain. If Dr. Allred notices one of these problems during your annual dental examination, he may suggest an orthodontic procedure, like Invisalign.

The Invisalign system is wonderful for both teens and adults who would like straighter teeth minus the pain, hassle, and appearance of metal braces. Even though the aligners do need to be worn for the majority of the time, Invisalign may be taken out for eating and brushing your teeth, as well as for special occasions and physical activities. Far more discreet than traditional braces that cut and poke your cheeks, your family and friends will usually not be able to tell that you're wearing your Invisalign tray.

What To Expect

The first set of Invisalign aligners will be made with digital impressions at Allred Dental. Once they are ready, you will come back to receive your trays with care instructions from Dr. Allred. You should keep your aligners in for at least 20 – 22 hours each day for the system to be effective, ideally removing them only for cleaning and eating. Over time, you will move to the next set of trays as they carefully shift your teeth closer to their proper position. The length of time that you use Invisalign will differ, considering the initial condition of your teeth and your cosmetic goals, but many patients wear trays for around one year.

Follow-Up

Once your teeth are aligned, it's important to prevent your teeth from moving into their old position. Invisalign's Vivera retainers are made with the same materials to help keep your teeth in their new position once your Invisalign treatment is done. Every retainer is custom made at the Invisalign dental laboratory based on impressions taken once your orthodontic treatment is done. Dr. Allred will discuss with you about how many hours a day you should wear your retainer and how to care for it once it is sent from the lab. Dr. Allred will continue to watch the alignment of your teeth and bite during your dental exams to ensure your teeth stay in the correct place.

Invisalign cost

Many of our patients find that part of their treatment cost is covered by insurance. Our team can confirm your benefits and calculate your out-of-pocket costs. Allred Dental accepts many methods of payment if you are not using insurance. During your initial consultation, Dr. Allred will talk about your estimated costs and how our office can make your Invisalign treatment more affordable with payment plans and medical financing.
