About Dental Implants
At Allred Dental in San Marcos, CA, Dr. Jeffrey Allred specializes in restoring the smiles of his patients who are looking to replace missing or broken teeth. Dental implants offer long-lasting and natural-looking restoration by using titanium posts implanted into the jawbone where false teeth can then be attached. With a secure fit, dental implants do not require any special adhesives and there are no restrictions on what foods the patient can eat. Whether a patient is missing one or several teeth, dental implants are a great option for restoring the aesthetic appearance and functionality of the smile while still looking natural and realistic.
Dental Implants Reviews
"I have been a patient of Dr. Allred's since 2010 and I knew I needed an implant but kept putting it off for fear and money. I finally got it done and it was so much better than I had anticipated. They have a great team, nice, helpful, honest people. I have been a patient of Dr. Allred's since 2010 and I knew I needed an implant but kept putting it off for fear and money. "I have not seen a better dentist since 2002! I have had some pretty bad experiences in the past but Dr. Allred turned that all around today. He and the staff (front desk and assisstants included) are all super calm, friendly, and reassuring. I felt like I was a family member. I am pretty sure I asked an annoying amount of questions and I always got a detailed answer and never felt rushed. Literally the most thourough dentist I've ever had. I have been pretty scared of going to the dentist for nearly 15 years but Dr. Allred completely turn my fear around. I cant say enough good things. I have definitely found my life-long dentist! Thank You Allred Dental!!"- S.O. / Yelp / Jun 07, 2017
What to Expect
When you visit Allred Dental to discuss your treatment plan, you and Dr. Allred will work together to decide which type of dental implant will work best for your specific needs. Before a dental implant is placed, a thorough examination will be conducted to assess the health and strength of the gums and jawbone. If the patient is a good candidate for dental implants, digital x-rays and physical impressions will help Dr. Allred determine the best placement for the dental implants during the procedure.
If you need more than one implant installed in an appointment, we are able to accommodate even the most complicated case. The process begins with placing the implant hardware. A small incision is made in the gum and the implant is screwed into the jawbone. At the end of your first appointment, your implant will be secured and sealed. After the initial placement of the implant, the area will need a few months to heal. The jawbone will fuse with the implant during this time to form a strong bond.
After the healing process is over, an abutment will be placed on the implant as a base for the new tooth. An impression of the abutment will be used as a guide to create a custom, permanent tooth. This custom tooth will be fabricated by us, for you, in our on-site dental laboratory. This unique replacement is fully customized to naturally and comfortably fit your mouth. By the end of the process, your restored smile will look and feel just like it used to, if not better and stronger, and you’ll have no excuse not to smile!
Most patients have little to no pain after their dental implants are finished, but some may have temporary soreness and discomfort that can be relieved with an over-the-counter pain medication. To prolong the life of dental implants, you should have a good home oral care routine that includes brushing, flossing, and rinsing with antibacterial mouthwash. Regular dental appointments for professional cleanings and dental exams are also important to implant care. Dental implants can last a long time with proper care, but may eventually need to be repaired or replaced.
If your dental implants are considered medically necessary, your dental insurance plan might cover some or most of the costs. However, cosmetic dental implants are usually not covered by insurance. During your consultation, our office can confirm your insurance coverage and discuss payment options and financing plans.
