About Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is used to fill in a gap created by one or several missing teeth. Dr. Allred performs this procedure by using a false tooth that is securely attached to a crown placed over the natural tooth. There are three main types of dental bridges: traditional bridges, cantilever bridges, and Maryland bridges. For a traditional bridge, a false tooth is surrounded by dental crowns on each side. In a cantilever bridge, the false tooth is anchored by a crown on only one side. With a Maryland bridge, also known as a resin-bonded bridge, the false tooth is supported by wings or framework bonding to the surrounding natural teeth. At Allred Dental in San Marcos, CA, we make custom dental bridges for our patients at our in-house dental laboratory.
Dental Bridges Reviews
"I went to another dentist first. Mission Dental. My bridge cracked and the doctor gave me an estimate of over 7000 to replace the bridge. They said to me. Good luck in finding someone who will do what you want I found Dr Allred in a Google search and boy. Am I glad. Very modern equipment. They are so thorough. Not rushed. I really would recommend them to anyone"- S.B. / Yelp / Apr 22, 2018
What to Expect
To prepare the teeth for the bridge, Dr. Allred will file down the abutment teeth to create enough room for the crown. Once the teeth are ready, Dr. Allred will take digital x-rays and impressions that will be sent to our in-house dental laboratory where the permanent bridge is made. Dr. Allred will cover the patient's teeth with temporary crowns for protection until the permanent bridge is ready. Once the bridge is created, Dr. Allred will attach the bridge and adjust the fit for ideal comfort and appearance.
With proper home care and regular visits for professional cleanings and dental exams, dental bridges usually last 5 – 15 years or longer. A good home oral care routine includes proper brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day. During future dental exams, Dr. Allred will check the condition of your bridge and let you know when it is time for a replacement.
If you have dental insurance, some or most of the cost of your dental bridge may be covered depending on your carrier and specific coverage. Our office will coordinate with your insurance to minimize your personal cost. We also accept many payment options and offer financing for our dental procedures.
